  Voting Information

Who is eligible to vote in Virginia?
Any registered voter who is at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the Commonwealth is eligible to vote. If you will be eighteen at the next general election, you may register in advance and may also vote in any intervening primary or special election. Voters are required to provide identification at the polls.

Persons convicted of a felony may not vote unless voting rights have been restored. Persons found mentally incompetent may not vote until competency has been reestablished.

Where do I vote?
Your local registrar will send you a voter information card. The card will tell you the name of your precinct and where you will vote. You must always vote in the precinct in which you live. Your voter card also contains the Senatorial, House of Delegates, and Congressional district numbers of your area.

When are the voting polls open?
The polls open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.
