Who
is eligible to vote in Virginia?
Any registered voter who is at least 18 years old,
a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the Commonwealth
is eligible to vote. If you will be eighteen at the next general
election, you may register in advance and may also vote in any
intervening primary or special election. Voters are required
to provide identification at the polls.
Persons convicted of a felony
may not vote unless voting rights have been restored. Persons
found mentally incompetent may not vote until competency
has been reestablished.
Where do I vote?
Your local registrar
will send you a voter information card. The card will tell
you the name of your precinct and where you will vote. You
must always vote in the precinct in which you live. Your voter
card also contains the Senatorial, House of Delegates, and
Congressional district numbers of your area.
When are the voting polls open?
The polls open at 6:00
a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. |
